The Texas Red Oak develops a rather typical shape and form for the species, with a dense rounded canopy. The bark is thick with scaly ridges separated by deep, dark fissures. The Texas Red Oak, 'Quercus buckleyi' is also known as Spanish Oak, Spotted Oak, Red Oak, and Rock Oak. They are moderately fast growing for a hard wood tree.
