Candytuft - Evergreen

The flat heads or clusters of stunning pure white, four-petaled flowers are on stems that are long enough to use in cut flower arrangements. Native to Europe, Candytuft has been used for centuries as an edging or border between lawns and taller plantings. The Evergreen Candytuft prefers full sun and average garden soil that is well drained. The Candytuft Evergreen, 'Iberis sempervirens', has beautiful pure white flowers that cover this evergreen ground cover in the spring. Plant in the spring, 2 to 4 weeks before the last average frost date or in late fall. In mild climates they can bloom as early as November. Do no let plants dry out or they will stop blooming. Gourd - Ornamental - Crown of Thorns The soil must be well drained and have lots of organic material. Gourds should be kept evenly moist and at the end of the season keep them on the dry side. ovifera', is an amazingly symmetrical gourd with 10 little "fingers" that protrude to make a crown. Shenot was selected for it's very uniform gourds. Place the gourds in full sun. Plant in the spring, 2 to 4 weeks after the last average frost date and when soil temperatures have risen above 60 degrees. The vine is smaller than many gourd vines, and it can be grown in large hanging baskets or containers. Hard-shelled gourds should be kept in the garden as long as there is any life left in the vines.
