Clematis - Ernest Markham
It is best to avoid heavy pruning on this perennial until it is fully established. The red flowers are approximately 4-6” wide. The foliage is dark green and makes a great contrast with the flower color. (Restricted States: AK, AZ, CA, FL, HI, OR, OT, WA). Clematis prefers full sun but will tolerate shade in the morning in a well-drained area. The Clematis ‘Ernest Markham’, Viticella x group, has dark red, magenta blooms that flower in July and range in height of 12-15’ and has a spread of 3’. It is best to heavily mulch the root zone to provide this cool, shady area. Clematis ‘Ernest Markhams’ need a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs. Evening Primrose - Lemon Sunset For a wonderful sun perennial, one will not want to leave ‘Lemon Sunset’ out of their garden. ‘Lemon Sunset’ will flower its first year, June to August. The large, 4” soft yellow flowers matures to a red sunset colr thst is complimented by its rich red stems. Oenothera requires full sun and needs a good drainage site. Try planting ‘Lemon Sunset’ with Salvia, Achillea or Columbine. It has a plant height of 3’ and a spread of 36-48”. |
