Clematis - Henryi
Clematis ‘Henryi’ needs a supporting structure to grow properly but will also grow over large shrubs. Clematis prefers full sun but will tolerate shade in the morning in a well-drained area. The red flowers are approximately 6-8” wide. The foliage is dark green and makes a great contrast with the flower color. It is best to avoid heavy pruning on this perennial until it is fully established. The tops of Clematis prefer full sun while their roots prefer a cool, shady area. It is best to heavily mulch the root zone to provide this cool, shady area. The Clematis ‘Henryi’, Lanuginosa X group, has white flowers with brown anthers that bloom in June and September and range in height of 10-12’ and a spread of 3’. Clematis ‘Henryi’ was a winner of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit and one can see why. ... more
Diascia - Ice Pole Keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Diascia derives it's Latin name from two words, 'di' meaning two and 'askos' meaning pouch, referring to the flower. Like a polar bear in a jungle, this Twinspur really stands out. Space plants 8" - 10" apart. Plant this gorgeous Diascia in full sun in fertile well drained soil. Icy white flowers showcase this plant. The Diascia 'Ice Pole', is an exciting color breakthrough in Twinspurs. Diascia is probably best suited to be grown in mixed containers or window boxes, although they can be grown in beds. They'll produce showers of flowers in spring to early summer until the daytime temperatures get really hot. |
