Fennel - Bronze-Smokey
The Bronze Fennel is an absolutely dazzling, hard to find Fennel, that is used primarily for ornamental value and has tasty foliage and seeds. They need to be kept moist. Fennel does best in well drained, sandy soils with lots of organic matter. The seed produced by the Bronze Fennell is used for flavoring cookies, breads, and cakes. Plant in the spring 2 weeks before the last average frost date. The Bronze Fennel attracts butterflies. The tall feathery, smoky purple foliage provides a beautiful accent with pink and white roses or any other contrasting flower color. Pepper - Chile - Mulato Isleno It has a very distinct and wonderful flavor. Wash your hands immediately. The peppers are 3 inches wide and 6 inches long and are heart shaped. Use gloves and do not touch any other part of the body after harvesting. Harvest when peppers begin to turn green to brown. Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. When dried for chili powder or strung on a string for decoration, the Pablanos are called Ancho peppers. This mildly hot Pablano-type roasting/stuffing pepper is dark green maturing to a very dark chocolate brown color. Transplant outside in the spring 3 to 4 weeks after last frost date. |
