Forsythia - Northern Sun - Tree form

A vigorous grower, it is adapted to a wide range of soils and has no serious pests. It is specifically recommended for landscape use in Minnesota and other northern areas where common Forsythias are not reliably hardy. It is best planted in full sun to encourage free flowering. The clear yellow flowers, 3/4" wide and 1" in length, appear before foliage in late April. The tree form Forsythia makes a great vertical accent in a border or as a foundation plant. Renewal pruning is useful to keep the plant shorter and more compact. The medium green foliage, on arching branches, is attractive all season. White Walnut It makes a good shade tree. Usually a taproot develops in deep soils. The root system is composed of a number of wide-spreading laterals that grow to a considerable depth.
