'Crown Jewels' took over 20 years to develop and refine the species and one can see why. The creamy white flowers have red centers and dark violet 'maple-cut' leaves. 'Crown Jewels' looks wonderful with grasses, as a background plant or with Hibiscus 'Old Yells' and Hibiscus 'Torchy' or as an alternative plant to Hibiscus 'Disco Belles'. (UPSS 11,857 P2). Phlox - Pink Flame It is a definite addition to any perennial garden. Blooming from April to May, it has a plant height of 12” and a spread of 12-18”. Use ‘Pink Flame’ in rock gardens, as a spread over curbs and short retaining walls, or in difficult edges of dry streambeds. The Phlox Pink Flame, 'Phlox paniculata', is an ideal ground cover with masses of tiny lilac purple flowers with a white center and a thick mat of foliage. ‘Pink Flame’ needs to be planted in a full sun area in well-drained soil. ‘Pink Flame’ is a new variety with variegated foliage and a pinkish tinge near the tips or the leaves.
