Honeysuckle - Freedom
Many honeysuckles will thrive in containers as well. White tinged pink flowers in spring produce small, rounded red fruit in summer. Freedom grows 8-10 feet in height and width. Freedom Honeysuckle, Lonicera 'Freedom', is resistant to the witches broom aphid that attacks other Honeysuckle. Needs full sun for best effect. Its fruit is a bright red berry which provides a nice contrast with the blue-green foliage. Excellent hedge or background plant. Its primary use is in windbreak and shelterbelt plantings and as a background screen in large areas. Plant habit is somewhat loose without pruning because of its vigorous growth rate. The flashy and fragrant flowers will attract hummingbirds and butterflies all summer long. This xeriscape plant is quite tolerant to a broad range of soil conditions but prefers a loam soil. The foliage is bluish-green in color with a fine texture. Honeysuckles are easy to grow, vigorous, heat-tolerant, and nearly indestructible. ... more
