Hosta - Sum and Substance

The Hosta Sum and Substance, 'Hosta', has large, rounded leaves with heavy puckering. With a plant height of 36” and a spread of 60”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage. The flowers are on 50” scapes, making it one of a kind. This Hosta is slug resistant and a vigorous grower. The lavender flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta’s are not known for their flowers. ‘Sum and Substance’ was named Hosta of the Year in 2004, and one can see why. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and is one of the most popular landscapeplants. ‘Sum and Substance’ does require some sun to enhance its golden color. Caladium - Fannie Munson Its leaves can be almost translucent, making it less ideal for sunny locations because it will easily sunburn. Try planting ‘Fannie Munson’ in containers for the patio, in window boxes or to brighten up you perennial garden. It has a plant height of 16-18” and a spread of 12-18”. ‘Fannie Munson’ should be planted in part-shade and in a well-drained area. The colors are extremely showy from July to Frost. The Caladium Fannie Munson, 'Caladium', has impressive bright pink foliage with green spotted edging.
