Pansy - Swiss Giant Mix
Pansies bloom best during cool weather, this means spring in cool climates, and fall and winter in warm climates. Plant in early spring, 2 to 4 weeks before last frost or in mid summer for fall bloom. Plant them in normal garden soils and fertilize lightly. The Pansy works well in locations where late fall and early spring color would be appropriate. Swiss Giant prefers full sun but they tolerate some light shade. The Pansy Swiss Giant Blend, 'Viola wittrockiania', produces large multi-colored flowers that you won't be able to get enough of, and you can eat them too! Technically a perennial, grown as an annual pansy, will overwinter in climates as cold as zone 4. They need to be well watered but not soggy. Swiss Giant Blend has 3 inch flowers of mixed colors including blue, purple, yellow, apricot, orange, mahogany, red, white, and biclolors.
