Pepper - Bell - Purple Beauty
Peppers use quite a bit of water but prefer to be watered deeply and not too often. Mix the Purple Beauty with red, green, yellow, orange, and chocolate peppers for a pallette of color. It is unlike most peppers which start out green, this one starts out purple and provides color early in the season. Pinch off early flowers to encourage plant growth. This is another exciting pepper to add to your collection of beautiful sweet bell peppers. Blossom pruning will improve fruit size. Plant in average garden soil with sufficient organic matter. Note: To get a jump on the season transplant outside, use a walls-of-water or some black plastic to maintain and increase temperatures. Aster - Tall Matsumoto The Tall Matsumoto blooms from mid to late summer up to the first hard fall frost. Add compost to improve marginal soil quality. Plant in the spring after the last average frost date. The 2 inch wide flowers have white petals tipped bright pink with contrasting yellow centers. This plant is excellent as a cut flower and the bright colors look great in any border. The plants require average water and they do not like to dry out. This Aster has a very long vase life. It will provide an "end-of-the-season pick-me-up" with its dazzling, radiant, medium sized flowers. The Aster Tall Matsumoto, 'Callistephus chinensis', is a florist quality cut flower variety with tall, strong stems and an unusual bi-color flower with a yellow center.
