Redspire Pear
It is tolerant of pollution, compacted soils, restricted rooting areas, drought and heat. The Redspire Flowering Pear develops small, pea sized reddish fruits that are attractive to birds and other wildlife. The Redspire provides 3 seasons of interest: spring flowers, glossy summer foliage and spectacular fall color. The flowers are larger than Bradford or Aristocrat flowering pears. The leaves emerge as red/purple and then turn a glossy green with a red tinge. This tree has many uses including lawns, buffer strips, median strip plantings, small shade tree, specimen and as a residential street tree. The Redspire Flowering Pear, 'Pyrus calleryana "Redspire", produces beautiful large white flowers in early spring. The fruits are quite persistent and may hang for up to a year. Shantung Maple It tolerates heat and alkaline soils. It is an excellent tree for small lawns and street tree use. It does well in full sun and in general seems to be quite adaptable. Its quality and adaptability make it worth growing. It has glossy, dark green star shaped foliage that remains in good condition throughout the season. The Shantung Maple, 'Acer trucatum', is an outstanding small tree. It of northern China but has a very large native range. It develops good fall color ranging from clear yellow to reddish purple. |
