White blossoms appear in June to July when this deciduous shrub blooms with long, plume-like panicles of smoky-white flowers. The Smokebush Golden Spirit, 'Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit', is a recent introduction from Europe. It can be late to leaf out in spring and may suffer dieback at -25F.
