Spiderwort - Shimmer Mixed

The Spiderwort Shimmer Mixed, 'Tradescantia andersoniana', has compact and upright green foliage with large pink, lilac, blue, rose, mauve and occasional white flowers. With a plant height of 30” and a spread of 24-36”, it is one that should not be missed. Deadhead after the first flowering to prolong its blooming time. Tradescantia ‘Shimmer Mixed’ should be planted in a sunny area, but they will tolerate some morning shade, with well-drained soil. It will tolerate damp soil but should not be over watered. PPAF. ‘Shimmer Mixed’ mixes beautifully with wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant and attracts butterflies. The flowers open for one day but new blooms appear from June to October. Try ‘Shimmer Mixed’ with Geranium ‘Johnson’s Blue’ or Alchemilla ‘Lady’s Mantle’.
