Sumac - Tiger Eyes® Cutleaf Staghorn
Tiger Eyes® is a beautiful golden-leafed form of Cutleaf Staghorn Sumac. As magnificent as the summer colors are, the dramatic effect of yellow, orange and intense scarlet in autumn are unparalleled. The Tiger Eyes® Sumac, Rhus typhina 'Bailtiger' (PP16,185), is a Bailey Nurseries introduction. New growth is a lively chartreuse green, quickly changing to yellow, both colors contrasting nicely with the rosy-pink leaf stems. The branches angle upward while the deeply cut leaflets drape downward, giving it a rather oriental look. ... more
Snowball Bush - Common It is a deciduous thicket-forming Old World shrub. About the same time, the bright red, attractive berries ripen, and persist on the plant throughout the winter. The Common Snowball Bush, Viburnum opulus, also called the European Cranberry bush produces white flowers in late spring. Grows best in full sun to partial shade. In the fall, the leaves turn a wonderful burgundy reddish-purple. Birds, particularly Cedar Waxwings, are very fond of the berries, and can often be found snacking during the winter. Have a snowball fight in June! Kids and adults alike love this rounded plant with masses of flowers. |
